Why 6 miles?  Because that is the distance for which Martin held the British record, though over slightly flatter terrain. 

There will also be a 2 mile for U18s and 1 mile fun run for U12s

More importantly the race is to remember the contribution that Martin made to running in Scotland:  coaching, advising, mentoring hundreds of runners of all abilities; organising races and encouraging teams and participation; running training sessions week in, week out, come rain or shine.
