There was an excellent turnout for the championship this year with 93 individual runners completing the championship and earning one of the valuable SHR mugs (including ones who completed their category, such as U23).
Most of the winners were decided before the last race at Merrick, but congratulations to the champions who are:
Senior Women and U/23 Women: Holly Page (Carnethy)
Over 40 and Over 50 Women: Angela Mudge (Ochils)
Over 55 Women: Nicky Spinks (Dark Peak)
Over 60 Women: Hilary Ritchie (Fife)
Senior Men: Dan Dry (Shettleston)
Over 40 Men: Andrew Fallas (Carnethy)
Over 50 Men: Kenny Richmond (Shettleston)
Over 55 and Over 60 Men: Colin Donnelly (Cambuslang)
Over 65 Men: John Tullie (Teviotdale)
Over 70 Men: Murdo MacLeod (Westerlands)
Under 23 Men: Darroch Anderson (Carnethy)
There were a couple of close battles as Dan Dry had to beat Alasdair Campbell (Cambuslang) in the last race to win the Senior Men and John Tullie likewise had to beat Don Reid (Westerlands) to win the Over 65 Men.
As for the teams, the Senior Men, Over 40 Men and Senior Women's teams all had the same top three, i.e. Carnethy, Shettleston and Westerlands but they were in different positions in each category with each club taking one win apiece. Shettleston won the Senior Men's after a strong showing at the last race, Carnethy dominated the Over 40 Men's, while Westerlands took the Senior Women's trophy (for the first time since 1995!).
Interestingly, the other team competition, the Women's Over 40, has three completely different clubs on the podium with Ochils beating Fife and Lochaber. It is the first time Ochils has won this competition (and only their second team championship in any category).
It is probably no coincidence that the four clubs winning the categories also had the most people completing the championship, with Westerlands topping that list with 19 completers!
